Not sure.
It looks like chert where it is chipped but otherwise looks like limestone? Is it calcite covering chert? You could get a little bit of acid (even vinegar) and drip it on the rock to see if it is calcareous, it will fizz if it is, then you will know its limestone..
I'm leaning towards it being just a shape in the rock, especially if that's calcite. It is almost certainly not animal, it could be plant stem, but doesn't look right. could be weathered though... the little lines are odd too. It's a wierd one. Not sure at all.

Well I originally thought it looked like a leaf - but it's true; it's not pressed flat like you would expect, so I suppose tunnelling creatures or natural mineral fissures make sense too.
