My farmer houndman friend from the Strathbogie Ranges NE Vic tells me that one evening a week ago he saw a thylacoleo run across the road in front of his vehicle. It resembled a solid fox somewhat with big boof head and tail stuck straight out the other. it was a brown colour wiith patches of fawn. The eyes shone reddish orange and he said that they stuck out like light bulbs. He had a hound with him and he put it on the scent but the dog back tracked. When it returned he put it in the right direction but the dog just got in the vehicle and would not budge. That dog was not just a pretty face. Thiis was in the vicinity of where he caught an animal in a snare but it escaped. Owing to calf kills he had put down more snares and is wondering if he really caught the thylacoleo. Years ago I made a large net when we had hopes of driving a bigcat out of a wombat hole and netting it. A folorn hope but he is now carrying the net just in case he has a catch. This animal has been seen around that area several times in the past year, as well as a thylacine. Unmistakable evidence shows that several calves have been taken by thylacine. Wally
