I received news in 2007 that somebody shot the Lithgow Panther that is the one in the photo. I jumped on the story and tracked the carcass down. It resided in a chest freezer of a taxidermist about 50ks from Bathurst. I managed to contact the taxidermist...got his permission to view the "Lithgow Panther", and headed to his residence. I took a video camera with me.
I drove the hours to get there, met the taxidermist and sure enough in his chest freezer he had the animal pictured in the Today tonight TV deal. I took the video swore to maintain the confidence and got in my car with the wife and kids and continued on my journey of life.
Now what did it look like......Infact he had two frozen feline specimens, but one was frozen to the bottom of the chest freezer and wouldn't budge. But the larger specimen was able to be pulled out and photographed. Now these two specimens had been shot by the same character and the frozen felines had been sitting in this large chest freezer for just on 6 months as the taxidermist waited for payment for commencement of work. No payment had been received. Which was strange because the bush telegraph reported that they had just been shot.
Anyway guys I videoed this "Lithgow Panther" and personally I don't doubt for a minute that it is the exact same animal that is depicted in TV Stuff and is referenced in photo's above (on Page 1 of this post), they are one and the same "beast".
How big? .....was it ........well if I was a Hobbit's Hobbit I'd be concerned!!!!! God help a Hobbits Hobbit with little legs running as fast as it can... those with 8" long legs pumping through cow pats with a panther in pursuit.
Amazing what people keep in their freezers.
In brief and to "cut to the chase" scrap any belief in the Today Tonight cocktail the depiction is nothing more then a mean old tom witha slightly boofy head, dressed up in a slow mo piece of rubbish. Pretty funny actually.. By the way the taxidermist had some great boar heads ...real good tuskers.
By the way I got wind of all this thru friends of friends, hence why I got in to see the "beast" in frozen state. remember it may not have been the exact animal...but it looked like it and It was shot in the same area, the taxidermist knows the guy. .for me it stacked up as the actual animal in every way
.so.............Hobbit's Hobbit bloody look out!!!! and run as fast as you can you midget primate/humanoid/malnutrioned wiskettes.
I'll post the video on YouTube one day and if you come across the Hobbit's Hobbit Clam givem a leg up, because they probably won't be able to see a desk positioned monitor or position the monitor on the ground.
Ahh You have to laugh sometimes.
