They are not reporting the exact location of the discovery but the arrows suggest the region of Lake Mungo where they discovered the remains of Mungo Man; believed to be one of the oldest inhabitants of Australia. (Possibly an ancestor of my Grandson, whose people originated in that area before following the Loddon River to the Maryborough district.) If they had dug up the gold in their land they could have bought Britain and given the Brits a real Australia Day to replace Empire Day. (I hope they would have retained the fireworks.)

There was controversy years (decades?) ago when Mungo Man (Woman?) was found not to have any DNA connection with today's so-called aboriginals. Awkward. Never reported upon from that day to this, afaik. Wonder why? 🤔
