The USS Canberra was commissioned in Sydney, a little while ago. Bigwigs all present and correct + long-winded speeches from politicians, 'acknowledgements of country' flying thick'n'fast. πͺ π Invites were for VIP only, I'm very reliably informed: 'other ranks' RAN told need not apply ... π
Her blazon is quite an attractive design --> USS Canberra (LCS-30)

I started that video, but noticed it's one hour and twenty-nine minutes long. I always hated attending ceremonies like that, so I stopped at time fifteen seconds. Yes, that is a nice coat of arms/blazon. I was on the USS Kirk (FF-108) for three years, so I looked at the old coat of arms for them; it's not as attractive as the Canberra's blazon.

I started that video, but noticed it's one hour and twenty-nine minutes long. I always hated attending ceremonies like that, so I stopped at time fifteen seconds. Yeah, it was quite tedious. It was live streaming whilst I was working so I just left it run in the background. The Sec. of Navy - guy in the blue suit at ~47:11 - gave the best speech by far. Obviously not the first one he's ever given. Strong stuff. The whole exercise was damn good PR for the USN & RAN. There's wild talk of 'Australia as a regional/hemispheric super-power' .. This is not really true. However, it is true the Defence build-up is the biggest since WW2 - and it is entirely because of Yu-No-Hu π¨π³. The build-up is in tandem with the World's oceanic powers, namely, the US & the UK. In Britain's case it's looking like a package deal with the Empire partially re-booted *. Of interest to Yanks is, there have been hints that Australia might(?) kick in $$$sπ΅ into America's Defence budget. Mainly in return for hi-tech stuff and with jobs for US Defence industry workers as sweetener. Which could explain how come ITAR rules are being wound back for π¦πΊ. All of which is a Good Thing, imho. Britannia-and-Columbia ** to Rule the Waves ... π¬π§ πΊπΈ π *Spain appears to have designs in the middle-to-southern Atlantic, similar to Britain in that regard albeit on a smaller scale. Needless to say, a re-booted Spanish Empire view Africa's resources will bring her into conflict with France => End-Of-EU. But that's another story. **Errm. Not the Latin American nation. Columbia as in America. Same as France is personified as Marianne, sometimes.

NZ might ask China for help, and then it would be on.

We could send an expeditionary force to Bouvet Island - sounds like tax avoiders have their 'black money' stashed down there. Treasure hunt? π°π«° " To boldly go where no Accountant has gone before."

NZ might ask China for help, and then it would be on. No point, most of them are already here
