I have a granddaughter and her husband who are both in the Navy, since they started a family she has been employed in admin and hates it, she would rather go to sea. He was never going to be accepted as a submariner he is just too tall, and plays rugby he is a big well built young man and has just received a commission I guess he is stuck with destroyers.

Destroyers are not as sexy as submarines, but there's nothing bad about destroyers. Subs and destroyers each have their niche in the navy, and both are needed to have a well-balanced mix of ships.

Subs were called Iron Coffins in both world wars. They still are and with good reason.
Iron Rule for submariners is: "Archimedes Rules!"
