If the moon were destroyed, how would that affect human life on earth?

A golf ball travelling at the speed of light is an impossibility, Einstein showed us how much energy it would take to accelerate to that velocity so the initial premise is false. We could theoretically lose the moon as the Earth's rotation is accelerating it moving it a few centimetres further away every year, but not something we need to worry about any time soon. The biggest change that I perceive would be the loss of the tidal effect which would see the world lose it's magnetosphere and the solar wind would strip light gasses such as hydrogen and oxygen we would eventually become very like Mars.
