Update 2:
C'mon people! I'm upping it to two grand - still not a single taker!
I know I'm expecting a lot.
If I had spare time (fat chance with three kids under 2!) I'd be spending all my time out in the sticks with trail cams set up everywhere!
***** Update 1:
I'm extending the offer to any genuine (new) image of a thylacoleo or thylacine, so come on someone, head off to Loch Sport and brave those mossies!
*****
Okay, here we go...
I'll personally offer a $1000 reward if anyone can provide me with a genuine photograph of this Singleton creature.
Okay, so a grand isn't much money and I dare say a newspaper would offer you 10x as much, but it's a start.
What I want is a genuine negative or digital image (on the original media). Upon receipt and to my satisfaction (as long as I'm convinced), I will hand over $1000 cash (or bank deposit/money order, whatever).
I'm not interested in 'exclusive rights' to the image or any such rubbish like that, just an original picture.
Yes, I am serious... I do admit to being somewhat sceptical, but I certainly have an open mind - and wallet!
So, who wants a bit of extra pocket money?
If anyone else wants to join me and increase the 'bounty' then all the better!
Cheers,
Mike.

Well if you do get someone claiming the reward you can instantly get half it back because our local rag was offering $500 for the same thing. Maybe that's just inflation but I bet if the pic was good enough there would be a few mags offering more. When I get the pic I will give you my agent's contact details.

Hi Dennis,
You have an agent? Must be famous, eh? Or just preparing for the time you get that elusive piccie? :-)
Well, I'd happily hand over the wonga for a photo, no problem there at all...
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Wally,
You'd get a grand for a good Thylacine pic too. Not sure about the hair though...
Cheers,
Mike.

Okay - a reward for evidence of a cryptid doesn't come up very often. I consider it newsworthy. It may not be the Bulletin's million dollars, but hey - it's worth a post: www.wherelightmeetsdark.com/index.php?module=wiki&page=SingletonThylacoleoRewardEven though it's old news to all of you reading this thread, check out the article anyway - there are two photos of thylacoleo sculptures painted black, or nearly black - and you'll see why some people argue that at least some of Australia's big cat sightings (always black mind you) may actually be misidentified thylacoleos.

Hi Chris,
Nice to be so widely reported! :-)
Still haven't had any takers!
Actually, perhaps I was too specific:
It doesn't have to be the SINGLETON critter: Any pic of a suspected thylacoleo or thylacine would do (and not any of the ones that have already been floating around for years!)
There's a nice, warm $1000 waiting!
Cheers,
Mike.

Nice to be so widely reported! :-) Hey - it's a $1000 offer for a mystery animal - I just wonder how long until mainstream media reports it!

Add another $49,000 and it might become newsworthy Ruby

Don't bet on it... you might be hearing about it sooner than that

Hey, I was going to make it $10,000 (seriously!), but my wife would kill me if she found out! So the $1,000 is a taster, to see if there is any genuine interest... Still waiting!

Crikey! Never thought we'd see high finance being bandied about on the Thylacoleo forum! ;D

Maybe you should also check the TV stations and see if you can find out how much they paid for some of the clips they have (and haven't completely shown), I have heard rumours of some nice cheques being shelled out just to keep the opposition out of the loop.

Hi Dennis - between $5000-$10,000 in almost every case of which I am aware (several in Victoria and two in NSW). Ruby

A while ago there was a report in the Warrandyte Diary about a photo of a thylacine taken near Warrandyte which was for sale on ebay. Anyone know anything about it?

$2000 now, eh? Well as it turns out, a colleague is developing two "home brew" (as they're called) trail cams which need testing. Let me see... hmm.. Singleton is a (long) day trip from here... Also - as I said - the reward *was* reported more widely than just my website announcement... I mentioned it in the radio piece Chris.

Well I am strapped for time to do any construction work on cameras, but I will be spending time working in a home of the bigcat area and can put cameras out for a trial. Sure to get feral cats and foxes Camera could be posted to me. Not many campers in parachilnna Gorge this school holidays, but resident cat is sure to be around and not far away. I could make a safety cage for the camera and affix it to an immovablle object. I did have a sound recorder wogged once so security device is necessary no matter where the camera is set up. Wally

I have been busy lately and have a couple of things on the go but expect to have free time later in the year and want to do a couple of trips (& see some family members I haven't visited for a while). I also want to stake out a local patch of forest which is the site of numerous reports and is due for a fuel reduction burn before end of August. I want to be near there when the DSE boys light it up and see what comes out.
