Hey Questers - The Victorian Naturalist now has that Bobuck paper in print so ... people can read all about it. Just follow the link from the main page. Let's know if any busted links etc? Let's know if all the hi-res clickables work? The PDF doesn't have pics @ the mo' - the original used really hi-res MB print quality images so i'll have to shrink them fr the web. best - Debbie

I just read your excellent paper Deb, well done.!!!!! I like the way you admitted you had no hypothesis about how the Bobucks ended up in The Gurdies. Keep it up. ;D

Thankz Mike! I wasn't too sure the referees would go for a "no firm hypothesis" conclusion but there's nothing much else you could say @ this stage. the most likely scenario imo is they're leftovers from when the forest was chopped down but you would first have to get an idea of how widespread they are. Because they're so few in number i don't think that can be done using traditional spotlight-type surveys. Comparing their DNA with Bobucks from the Alps might tell you if they really are isolated and maybe for how long? Debbie

Glad you liked the paper guys and may I add my congratulations to Debbie for making a contribution above her years! To me perhaps the big finding of the research was that the camera picked up what the "official" surveys had missed. The reference list contains two papers describing prior surveys nearby; but no bobucks. And yet the local people had been saying all along they were there. Havent we heard that somewhere before.......
