Dear Confused,
I believe Bernie said it ~could~ turn out to be a super-sized feral cat (perhaps with some rogue gene) ie if it's not a big cat. ;D Sounds fine to me, he's covering all bases and is quite entitled to entertain more than one view on the matter.
As for the chief of staff being replaced at the Sunday Herald Sun, that's an outright lie (where do you find the time to make up and peddle these fantastic stories - while you're standing in the dole queue?). The COS is the same person as it has been for some time - and I have it on good authority the paper was quite pleased with the response the story inspired.
Fiasco? I think not. Start taking those little red pills again, you're delusional. ;D maybe then you won't be so confused MM.

Researcher says Gippsland creature may be giant wild cat

A researcher from Talangi, near Healesville, east of Melbourne, believes a black cat shot near Dargo in Gippsland could be a super sized feral cat.
Melbourne deer hunter Kurt Engel shot the cat in June, photographed it and cut off its tail as a trophy.
Bernie Mace from Talangi has been researching the big cat legend for 30 years.
He says a Canberra university wants almost $10,000 to analyse DNA from the tail.
"They've endorsed the need for a careful analytical process," he said.
"They're putting it at quite a high price and something like mid-December to get a result out of the Canberra lab and the cost involved is requiring some funding support to enable that analysis to take place."

Ten Grand! Crikey Give it to me and for 9 grand I'll get the DNA done AND I'll get the isotopic frequency signature done as well, a tool with which it's possible to determine where in the world the specimen came from by relating the relative proportions of isotopes of certain elements in the specimen to the same elements in the environment. This would prove whether or not the specimen did actually come from the area the shooter claimed, and not the dealers room of an ebay warehouse.

Seems you can get some bargains if you shop around! Bernie may be looking for some kind of university-type endorsement of the result - perhaps he thinks it will carry more clout? Maybe you should drop him a line, Plesiosaurus? Ruby

Confused : I tink soo Question : If I were to say, the chief of the sunday herald sun has been replaced this week due to the big cat fiasco, would that be a lie? Confused : (long pause) (Hand touching nose) (Hand touching ear) (Beads of sweat on forehead) Well, it's almost truu. I mean, it's not just a little white lie. Did I say "chief"? Oohh, I meant, the chef. Yeah y'know, the chef who sometimes cooks for the sun herald workers.... he, he nobody liked his big cat burgers. hee hee. Question : What do you mean 'big cat fiasco? It's hardly worthy of discussion Wally - some nut posting stupid outright lies on this board is just some nut posting stupid outright lies on this board. ;D
