Chris, I had assumed that you have found these guys here in Lithgow as well but I haven't seen you mention them at all?? They are breeding Eastern Quolls there. www.ausecosystems.org.auian

Hi Ian,
yes, Joel at Lithgow was fantatic when I visited a few weeks before they opened their animal exhibits to the public. I had gone there to discuss the 2006 sightings that occurred near Sydney as I was including the Eastern quoll in my book chapter in the book titled Elementum Bestia. He showed me their EQ enclosures and the photo on my site of the black EQ is Joel holding one of theirs.
I believe their original quoll stock came from what is now Mt Rothwell Sanctuary (formerly Little River Sanctuary) in Victoria. Paul, from that Sanctuary has also been most helpful in providing descriptions for me of EQ behaviour in the bush - his is a free-range feral-proofed sanctuary with EQs roaming wild and I'm still kicking myself for not visiting when I came south last year. It's a definite stop on the next trip!
I also saw one of Lithgow's spotted-tailed quolls, but it was quite a cranky individual and wouldn't come down to say hello.
Healesville Sanctuary's spotted-tailed quoll was just phenomenal in comparison (behaviour and confidence-wise). Any wonder they chose her as an ambassador for the species!
Chris.

Hey Chris,
On a related thread; any luck with your trail-cam? Any pics of interest?
Cheers,
Mike.
