New Ice Age hunters vs mammoths movie coming out. Got an idea 'Solutrean' does not technically overlap 'Upper Palaeolithic'? It's probly the Atlantic Ice Bridge revisited and knowing Hollywood, i wouldn't be at all surprised to see dinosaurs in it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them with bronze weapons or anything, probably lovely and clean shaven, women with shaven legs, etc too!

Beowulf legend has spawned countless tales from Wagner's opera Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), to Lord of the Rings books and movies I have always assumed that there were so many embellishments that there is probably little accurate reflection of any real person.

If this flick will really feature the Solutrean hypothesis, the political blowback from real and fake (I'm looking at you, Ward Churchill) Native American activists will be massive; I doubt anybody in Hollywood has the guts to endure this.
As for non-avian theropods, there were some animals in Pleistocene NA that were ecologically convergent to a degree, i.E. Terror Birds and the Panda Cat (a far too cute name for this lovecraftian beast) Xenosmilus ; both missed humans only by a few hundred thousand years and could feature in such a movie without bending the timeline too much. However, any realistic depiction of their hunting techniques would be off limits for a family-rated movie (those with strong stomachs can google Giant Petrel, but be warned).

Ah typology versus DNA. DNA wins out I'm afraid as typology is based effectively on using aesthetics and best guess to produce seriation whereas DNA is a little more reliable!

Yeah. Whitey discovered America - got that? You're right. If they put it on the big screen there'll be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth from the natives-deserve-special-treatment crowd. Don't worry, we got plenty of them Downunder.
